Psychotherapist • Consultant • Supervisor • Educator

Leslie S. Tsukroff, MSW, LCSW is the Founder and Executive Director of Leslie S. Tsukroff, Inc., a company that encompasses both her private psychotherapy practice and her consulting and training business serving behavioral health professionals nationwide. Since earning her MSW in Clinical Social Work from New York University in 1993, Leslie has built a career grounded in clinical excellence, ethical integrity, and business leadership — bringing more than 30 years of experience to everything she does.

Prior to launching her private practice in 1999, Leslie worked on the front lines of the field as a child and family preventive services worker, an on-site school mental health counselor, and a staff clinician at a community-based agency. She went on to develop clinical preventive programs for at-risk youth, spearhead startup initiatives for nonprofits, and work as an outpatient care manager during the rise of managed care in the 1990s. This breadth of experience across clinical, organizational, and systems-level work laid the foundation for her deep understanding of the challenges facing behavioral health professionals at every stage of their careers.

In 2000, Leslie expanded her work by launching Business Management Consulting for Mental Health Practitioners, a division of her company created to help behavioral health clinicians achieve their clinical, professional, and business goals. She is widely recognized as New Jersey's Premier Ethics Consultant, a distinction rooted in both her professional service and her longstanding passion for the intersection of clinical practice, ethics, and the law — an interest that traces back to her work at a law firm during college. That early exposure to legal frameworks, combined with her clinical training, shaped an approach to ethics that is practical, nuanced, and deeply grounded in real-world practice.

Leslie's commitment to the profession is reflected in decades of leadership and service. She served as Chair of the NASW-NJ Committee on Ethical Review, as the 21st President of the New Jersey Association of Women Therapists (NJAWT), and on numerous boards, committees, and task forces focused on continuing education, licensure, managed care, and private practitioner concerns. As a Qualified Clinical Supervisor in New Jersey, she remains committed to ensuring that future generations of clinical social workers have the skills to practice both competently and ethically. Throughout her career, she has also supported dozens of colleagues through affordable consultation, supervision, and pro bono presentations.

From 2018 to 2022, Leslie had the honor of serving on a national NASW Task Force charged with co-developing the Clinical Social Workers in Private Practice: A Reference Manual — a comprehensive resource now considered a key text for both novice and veteran practitioners nationwide. As one of six volunteer members, she authored sections covering professional wills, retirement and practice closure, minors' rights, considerations for clinical work with minors whose parents are divorced or separated, business planning, subpoenas, sliding scales, informed consent standards, client–social worker practice agreements, and standardized record forms. The opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the country to help set the standard of care for clinical social workers remains a career highlight.

Leslie is a nationally recognized continuing education provider, approved through both the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB/ACE) and the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC/ACEP). With more than 80 trainings delivered to licensed mental health professionals across the country, she is known for creating educational experiences that are engaging, accessible, and immediately applicable. She offers large group, small group, and one-on-one training formats covering a wide range of topics including professional ethics, risk management, documentation and record-keeping, billing, informed consent, private practice development, and navigating complex clinical and legal decisions — always through the lens of best practice and client care.

In addition to her consulting and training work, Leslie maintains a private psychotherapy practice with an office in Somerville, New Jersey, and provides remote psychotherapy to clients located in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
